The Sound Sweep · Game World
Inspired by the J.G. Ballard short story of the same name, The Sound Sweep is a game rooted in the perception and materiality of sound. In the story, sound has a peculiar persistent quality, seeming to accumulate at the site from which it emanates – its presence never fully diminishing or falling silent.
In the game, sounds are placed at the forefront of our perception — the game world washed out and monochrome, a mere backdrop for its busy and cacophonous soundscape.
We explore the world and absorb these sounds, just like the Sound Sweep. I modelled, textured, lighted, coded and sound designed all aspects of this game, built in Unity.
